Iphone 16 turned itself off, won’t power on

Hi all, I was scrolling on my iphone 16 this morning which I only purchased 2 weeks ago when it inexplicably powered off, no matter what I do to reset it, volume up down power, holding power and volume, plugging it in nothing is getting a response of any kind, after it powered itself off its also continually gotten hotter, I’m at a loss and really don’t want to go to apple if avoidable as I have to be home at a normal enough time and the wait at my local apple for help is really long.
