How do I sync iPhone and Apple Watch time with time.gov?

My iPhone and Apple Watch match time, but are both 72 running seconds faster than time.gov

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

  1. Go to Settings → General → Date & Time
  2. Turn Set Automatically off and then On again after a few seconds.

See the pic below

iPhone time is automatically set via Apple’s time servers, which in turn sync with network time protocol (NTP) servers. Apple Watch inherits its time directly from the paired iPhone.

Carrier/network NTP issue – Some carriers provide their own time servers, and if they’re out of sync, your phone can inherit that bad time.
