Apple devices not connecting to Wi-Fi but android are

Ever since Apple began private relay, I cannot use my phone anywhere. I can’t use it at my house. I cannot use it at my job. I cannot use it at my second job. My friends with androids connect easily. My phone gives a weird comment that says the Internet is not connected to the Ethernet cable, which is a complete and total lie. How do I get on the Internet so I don’t use all of my cellular data?

Please post a screenshot of the error, if the message shown is different from this:

“Safari cannot open the page because your iPhone is not connected to the internet.”

Which iOS version?

Any add-on security or privacy or other similar apps installed? If so, remove those, restart, and test again.

Any Safari browser extensions, including ad-blocking and other tools? If so, disable all, and try again.

Any MDM profiles loaded? (Settings > General > VPN & Device Management). If so, remove, and test again.

To be clear, this is a problem with YOUR iPhone, not anyone else’s, so the solution lies in troubleshooting YOUR device. There are 2 billion iPhones that do not have this problem.

One point: If it works using cellular data, the problem is not iCloud Private Relay, because it is active on both cellular and Wi-Fi.

And it would be a good idea to go out and see if you have a problem with other networks. If you don’t the problem is with your router.

Here is one more thing to check. Go to Settings/Apps/Safari. Scroll to the bottom and tap on Advanced. Scroll to the bottom and tap on Feature Flags. Scroll to the bottom again, and tap Reset All to Defaults.

And also go to Settings/General/VPN & Device Management: Do you see ANY profiles there? Delete any you see

Then tap VPN. Do you see ANY profiles there? Delete any you see.

After any changes, restart your iPhone.

Settings/[your name]/iCloud/Private Relay. Although that should not affect your connectivity, and even then it is only used by Safari.

Have you tried restarting your router? Checked to see if you have MAC Filtering (aka Access Control) enabled on your router?

Does this happen on other networks, like Starbuck’s, your local library, MacDonalds or neighborhood coffee shops and diners?

I never turned private relay on. After an update it just appeared. When I sign on to anything, my phone or iPad tell me that I’m on private relay and that it’s protecting me. Is there a way to turn it off?

I have an iPhone 14. My iPad is much older.

The “Your Internet is not connected to the ethernet” message happens at three different places, three places where the router is definitely connected to ethernet and my friends who don’t have iPhone are able to sign on.

I typically do not use public WiFi; so I don’t know.

I reboot my home router somewhat regularly because it seems to help zoom run more smoothly. (maybe that is just an urban legend, and it does nothing?)

I work several jobs in person and online and attend classes online, so this new development is really challenging. I guess I can ask my employers to reboot their modems. I wonder why my coworkers are not struggling with the same issue. I know for certain that I am the only iPhone at this moment at one of my jobs, maybe there are some apple people that are not experiencing this problem.
