Charged extra for YouTube Premium from past 2 years

My YouTube premium subscription included YouTube music premium as well. Why it charged me extra for YouTube music?? I request refund for all of the extra charges. When I viewed my purchase history I found out that it charged me more than 6-7 times over 2 years

Uh, yes, that's the way things are in the 21st century. You have to monitor accounts. If this is card fraud under any context, your card company expects you to notify them within a certain time frame. It can vary but I think with our card company it is only a few weeks.

I see you are now finding older purchases.

Your first step is to try to identify the reason for, and source of, these charges. They may be perfectly valid charges you simply do not recognize. If they had been only in emails or messages there would have been the possibility they are not real at all (phishing attempts).

The support article If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement - Apple Support explains how you can check your iTunes and App Stores purchase history, cancel subscriptions (remember that these need to be canceled at least 24 hours in advance), and track possible sources of unrecognized Apple charges you may see on a bill. These may be purchases by Family Sharing members, others sharing your card (such as a spouse or partner, or a second Apple Account you have; you may not see a receipt).

The article also provides a specific link for contacting Apple if you cannot trace the source of charges. If you use Apple Card you may find this document helpful too ➞ If you see an Apple Services charge you don't recognize on your Apple Card - Apple Support

Also note this service: View your App Store and iTunes Store purchases directly from your financial institution - Apple Support

"When you sign in to your financial institution website or mobile app and view your recent purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, Apple Books, or for Apple Music or iCloud services, you may see an option—such as View Receipt—that allows you to view more details about your transaction."

Other possibilities to consider (not all may apply in your situation):

● If you see duplicate subscription charges on a card but only one in your Apple subscriptions list, you may have subscribed once in-app through Apple and a second time directly with the vendor on their web site (e.g., YouTube). Cancel one of your subscriptions. Same can happen if you have two Apple Accounts.

● Purchases can be made with your ID if your Apple ID is compromised (read what to do ➞ If you think your Apple Account has been compromised - Apple Support ) or somebody else has access to your device (require a purchase password as explained in this article ➞ Require a password for purchases in the App Store and other Apple services - Apple Support ).

● If you only see a charge in emails or texts that are not official Apple receipts, it is likely phishing attempts (see the article: Recognize and avoid social engineering schemes including phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support ).

● If you are absolutely certain neither you, nor Apple, nor a Family Sharing member can account for a charge and it ONLY appears on a bill for a charge card you alone control, you may have been the victim of card fraud. Contact your financial institution immediately. Any “refund” would have to come from them, not Apple.

● Small amounts of ~$1 may be an authorization hold that will be refunded (pending charge ➞ How apps, content, and subscriptions from Apple are billed - Apple Support ).

● Unanticipated amounts may be grouped charges ( How apps, content, and subscriptions from Apple are billed - Apple Support ).

If using Family Sharing and viewing purchase history under Report A Problem, make sure the “Apple ID” box is set to All.” If a purchase is listed in your purchase history and you want to ask for a refund, read this article about how to request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple ➞ Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support Remember that many apps have trial periods with subscriptions that then start automatically unless you cancel them in time. If a Family Sharing member made the purchase then you need to discuss this with that person. They would have to initiate any refund request.

If a reporting a problem request is unsuccessful or you have another issue you can also speak with Apple ➞ Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support

Select your country (if you do not see your country, also look for "other" regions; e.g., "Other Africa"), then "Choose a product". Click the "show" item under each category for more selections. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

First see if you can recognize the charge

How to see what you were charged for

  1. To see your purchase history, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Sign in with your Apple Account to see a list of purchases.

If yoIf you checked reportaproblem.apple.com and your emailed receipts and you're still not sure why you were charged, contact Apple Support.

  1. u want to see family members' purchases, select the Apple Account button and choose a family member.
  2. To see the full receipt, including tax, tap or click the date. Multiple purchases, including subscriptions, might be grouped onto one charge.

If the charge is for a subscription that you no longer want, you can cancel the subscription. You can also view your Purchase History on your device.

View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support

Select your device type. Make sure you aren't filtering for the past 90 days.

This support article explains how to check the status of a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple, and how long it takes to receive a refund if you are granted one --> Check the status of a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support

After you request a refund you'll receive a status update by email within 48 hours. If your refund is approved, the funds are applied to the same payment method that you used to buy the item. How long it takes for a refund to appear on your account or statement depends upon the payment method used:

● Store credit—It might take up to 48 hours to see the refund in your Apple Account balance.

● Mobile phone billing—It might take up to 60 days for the statement to show the refund. Processing time might be affected by your carrier. You can contact your carrier for an update.

● Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and all other payment methods—It might take up to 30 days for the statement to show the refund. If you don't see the refund after 30 days, contact your financial institution."

Since the article specifically says "statement", which for me is the thing that arrives monthly in my mailbox, I wonder if you check your daily card transactions if you might see it earlier?

For apps and media you can also sign into https://reportaproblem.apple.com to check if the status of your item is "Refunded".

If you need to contact Apple about this, click on this link --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support and choose a path that gets assistance from Apple staff.

Currently there is no official mention of a time limit on refunds. Back in October 2021 the document in this link If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support (which now appears to go to a completely different topic) used to say, "*You must request the refund within the refund period. Refunds are not guaranteed." However, the Terms & Conditions document to which it directed, and which is newer does not have any mention of a "refund period". In the past users on the forum have reported they have been told they cannot get a refund because a purchase was made more than 90 days ago. It is possible there is an unofficial 90 day time limit.

So I’ve checked my purchase history and found out that I’ve been charged extra 6-7 times over 2 years. When I request a refund it only allows my to choose recent (August) purchases only. My status claim says that I’ve been refunded (for the recent purchases only) but I haven’t received any refund atm. As you can see from the screenshot I uploaded, this month I got charged 3 times instead of 1. Apple support, especially request refund only allows me to file a request for recent purchases only, even though I got charged extra for nearly 2 years

So basically when someone doesn’t check their bank account and App Store purchases and subscriptions regularly they might be getting charged extra monthly. Imagine most of the users got charged extra for months and month, billions of dollars are made fraudulently. I don’t think it’s an honest mistake by Apple, especially after getting charged 3 times in the same day.
