M3 Macbook Air screen dim at wake

I've had a M3 Macbook Air for about 6 months now, and have consistently encountered this issue. After waking my Air by opening the lid, the screen is very dim. Not completely dark, but very dim. Hitting F2/Brightness Up does nothing. I have to hit F1/Brightness Down first, and then F2/Brightness Up will work.

I've seen other similar posts about this issue, so I know I'm not alone. But they have been closed without a resolution. I'm on Sequoia 15.6.1, Model MC9J4LL/A. The most recent time I experienced it, I was connected to the power supply, so it's not a "dim on battery power" issue (though I have those settings turned off anyway).
