Wondering if you have VPN installed ... ie: sometimes causes various interferences ... try turning it off. See if there's a difference with iCloud.

Unnecessary third-party (non-Apple) apps like virus-checkers, ad-blockers, cleaners and the like can also be culprits. Again, try turning them off, or better yet, use uninstallers from their developers (hopefully to ensure removal of any stray files).

Any third-party apps you find necessary need to be kept up-to-date to sidestep "incompatibility" issues.

I finally figured out the solution for likely mostly everybody that's been encountering this issue. That is, if you've been getting this exact error message when you try to sign-in to your iCloud account on icloud.com or account.apple.com on a PC browser other than Safari (Chrome in my case).

I went down a crazy rabbit hole with the Google Search Engine and ChatGPT. However, the answer is super... super... simple.......

ANSWER: Reset settings.

1) Click the three dots in the top right of Chrome, next to your Chrome profile picture.

2) Click "Settings" at the bottom of the dropdown menu.

3) Find "Reset settings" on the left hand side.

4) Boom. Congratulations. You've now fixed your Google account and can sign-in to your account without having to go into incognito mode or use the Safari browser, if Chrome is your preference.

same for me too. i can log in to apple account just fine, my password & user details are all correct. yet when i try to log in to icloud, i get a wrong username/password error.

Firefox latest Ver, Win11.

Checked on multiple browsers, same error.

seems to work when using EXACT same log in details , but on iphone using Firefox browser.

the strange thing is it only works if i use the auto log in with finger print option. if i use the password that is linked to the fingerprint, it behaves exactly as win 11 browser behaves.

Hello brbo,

I am having the exact same problem as jwr_sup. I checked all the possibilities in If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud - Apple Support, and none of them corresponded to our issue or provided a possible solution. There seems to be no issue in the System Status either. I'm using an up-to-date Firefox browser. I have all the system requirements and was able to log in hassle-free into my Apple Account online via https://account.apple.com/ .

When I try to log into iCloud, my phone gets the log in attempt notification and gives me a verification code. But on the browser, it keeps showing the "Failed to verify your identity. Try again" error message. It started randomly yesterday and persists today. Meanwhile, I tried changing my password to see if it worked, and the change itself was successful. When I type in the old password, it gives me the "Check the acount information you introduced and try again", but when I type in the new one, it gives me the "Failed to verify your identity. Try again" one... What do I do?! Is there no place to report this error?
