How do I use Apple Trade In funds when buying a refurbished Mac?

Here is how it works:

1. Purchase your product.
2. Set it up at home and transfer everything before you trade.
3. Erase your old device.
4. Trade-In at your local Apple Retail Store at your convenience.
5. You will be offered an option for a gift card or credit (with sales tax included) to your original form of payment.

Note that you have the option of migrating from a current Time Machine or bootable clone backup of the old Mac, instead of from the old Mac directly.

It's good that you use Backblaze backup routinely. That said, I do not believe that Migration Assistant knows how to migrate from Backblaze or other network backup services. So that would only be an option if you wanted to do the work of migrating by hand.
