2-factor authentication error during iPad screen mirroring for drawing tablet

I need to use my iPad as a drawing tablet (9th gen) for my MacBook Pro, but when I attempt to screen mirror I get a popup saying 2 factor authentication is not activated for my account. It is. I have checked for possible required updates, checked settings, reset both devices, attempted to mirror from my iPad to my Mac (instead of vice versa) and nothing has worked. what should I do?

You may what to re-trace your steps to check if 2-factor authentication has been turn On for both devices

This is predicated that Both Devices are using the same Apple ID Account

Most accounts already use two-factor authentication. If you’re not using two-factor authentication for your Apple Account, you can turn it on using your device or on the web:

On your iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security. Tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication. Then tap Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.
