Recently this spot appeared on my screen after 1.5 years of use and don’t know if I should bother going to genuis bar because they’ll just say to replace it since it’s out of warranty.

Take this as a learning experience, knowing to get AppleCare on Apple products. I always have, and they've let me perform an annual continuum of coverage purchase.
