Intermittent AirDrop issues on iPhone 14 and iMac
Airdrop has been intermittent for me, and I'm looking for potential reasons that airdrop would behave this way.
As an example, I will use transferring photos from the Photos app on the phone to the Photos app on the computer.
First, I select pictures to transfer, select Airdrop. The computer appears on the phone screen after a brief wait, I touch that and the computer shortly asks whether I want to accept I do and they are transferred successfully.
Second, I deselect the transferred pictures on the phone and select some others to transfer. I follow the same procedure to transfer with Airdrop, but now the computer does not appear on the screen. Airdrop times out.
Here are a few diagnostics.
- Turning the phone's wifi and bluetooth off on and off worked once, but has not worked since.
- Opening the Airdrop window on the computer shows the phone all the time (unless I turn bluetooth off).
Iphone 14 and iMac 2025, both running Sequoia 15.6.1.
