TFA authorizations stopped showing up in Messages on Mac

For years, two-factor authorization texts have appeared in Messages on both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro. Until just now. I was logging into my bank account, and the process sent me the usual TFA code (six digits). These codes typically appear in Messages, but I would also get the code in a little bubble that would pop up right beside the field where I would enter the code. I could simply click the little bubble, and the code would jump into the bank's little field and off we'd go. Very simple; very convenient.

This morning, however, the little bubble did not appear. Siri (speaking through my earbuds) announced the arrival of a text message from "someone in area code" so-and-so. That message did appear in Messages on my iPhone, but it did not show up in Messages on my Mac.

A couple of days ago, I had to reset the settings on my iPhone 16. Perhaps that reset had something to do with this problem ... ? Suggestions—anyone?

Good news: I've found the cause of the problem and fixed it. Turns out the trouble developed when I reset the settings on my iPhone. The reset turned off Text Message Forwarding (Settings > Apps > Messages). I found the solution in an Apple Support article, which reads, in part—

1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Messages.
2. Tap Text Message Forwarding. (If you don't see it, turn iMessage off and back on, then tap Send & Receive and sign in again.)
3. Tap to turn on each device that you want to allow to send and receive messages from this iPhone.
