For a few years, I've been using iMessage without problem on my iPhone, iMac and macBook. But recently I've been receiving a few notifications on one or more devices about associating my phone number with my iMessage account (I think) and today, I can't sign into iMessage on my iMac. Or, at least, I can sign in for a few seconds before I'm signed out again. Any ideas, please?
@baudiom, this is how I solved it in my case. I found I had to reactivate iMessage in my iPhone first:
If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPhone - Apple Support
In particular, make sure you complete step 1 of the subsection "Try to activate your iMessage or FaceTime account online" on that page.
Then I had to make sure messages were available on my iMac by selecting Text Message Forwarding:
Set up Messages on iPhone – Apple Support (UK)
I think this was all set up correctly until recently but I just had to go through the process again.

I've since managed to resolve this, by re-activating Messages on my iPhone.
I also cant use imessage on my macs. I am signed into icloud, but imessage will continually ask me to sign in. It will look like it will work for about 10 seconds, then asks again. Still works perfectly on my phone.
Thanks for the reply, Ed. I have tried to reactivate it on my phone. It only accepts the phone number not my apple ID. I have applied to apple to have my ID re-attached to both Facetime and iMessages. Turns out both were affected. Will see what happens.
