how to identify a genuine mac charger

not exactly a question, i've had this problem these past few days and just recently discovered how to do it so i want to share with the community.

  1. plug the charger and connect the mac.
  2. hold down the OPTION key and click the apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen, then System Settings...
  3. click on Power in the left-hand column

if the charger is genuine, this will show the manufacturer as Apple Inc. along with other information

Note that the information you see for the charger is just what is read from the text embedded on the firmware. A counterfeiter simply copies this information, the same as they do with a serial number for AirPods. There is no authentication being done.
