Apple only lists compatibility with the new iPhone Air. As such, it is both reasonable and sensible to assume that this accessory is neither designed for, nor compatible with, other models of iPhone.

maybe not by magsafe, but it does say you can use the battery to charge smaller devices via USB-C. By definition, the iPhone Air is 6.5 inches and the iPhones are 6.1 or 6.3. In other words, they by definition are smaller.

Said as simply as possible: If you buy the new made for iPhone Air Magsafe Power Bank (I'm pretty sure that is what you are asking about), it will NOT fit any other iPhone model. I've already watched a number of videos from today's launch and every reviewer who tried it said it will NOT fit on the back of any other iPhone except the new Air. I don't think it can be made more clear than this. If you want to connect it to another iPhone via USB C, I'm not sure why you'd want to spend $100 for one, when you can buy other Power Banks to connect via USB C, which don't cost nearly as much. It is a PURPOSE BUILT device for iPhone 17 Air.

You specifically made the qualifier, "Given that all iPhones (from 12 and above), can use magsafe". If you were talking about the MagSafe Wallet, the answer would be YES, but since you were asking about the iPad Air MagSafe Battery, the correct answer is NO. You were not talking about USB-C charging that also includes AirPods and have nothing to do with MagSafe compatibility.

There is only one iPhone Air and that is found on the iPhone 17. As stated in the tech specs, the MagSafe battery was made exclusively for the iPhone Air, which by definition would mean not for any other device. The compatibility on this page also lists only the iPad Air.

The iPhone Air MagSafe Battery was created exclusively for iPhone Air.
