iPhone stops ringing with incoming calls

I am using an iPhone 14 Pro Max, running IOS 18.6.2. No software updates available.

I had missed a call from someone a few minutes prior to checking my phone. I was busy cleaning so I turned on my ringer, volume up all the way, and phone face up. As a received the call back my phone rang for 1 second at full volume and then went completely silent. Not even vibration. I had heard it might have been because of the attention aware feature but I was across the room. I got them to call a few more times and it does it every time. I’m not sure what to do but I think this has been going on for weeks. I thought I just wasn’t paying attention enough. If there is a solution please let me know.

First thing I’d probably try is turning off Attention Aware Features in Settings, Face ID & Attention, since that can mess with ringer volume even if you're not looking at your phone.. Also check your Focus settings (like Do Not Disturb or Sleep) to make sure nothing is silencing calls, And make sure your ringer and vibration settings look good under Sounds & Haptics. Double check it’s not connected to a Bluetooth device, just in case the sound is going somewhere else. If none of that helps, try restarting the phone or doing a Reset All Settings. Might also just be a weird iOS 18 bug...
