iPad USB-C using Apple Ext DVD combo player

I can plug and play using my external apple DVD combo burner player, on my iMac no problems, however even with the USB to USB-C converter the combo drive dosn’t do anything, it accepts DVDs and spins up, fine but the iPad just has no clue its there. I think it need an app or driver of some sort? Any ideas? I use this DVD a lot on my iMac it’s very handy.

Nope.

Apple doesn’t list iPad as compatible with SuperDrive, only Mac.

How to connect the Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple Support

Here is what is listed as compatible:

Connect external storage devices to iPad - Apple Support

The media format must meet requirements, too: Note: An external storage device must have only a single data partition, and it must be formatted as APFS, APFS (encrypted), macOS Extended (HFS+), exFAT (FAT64), FAT32, or FAT. To change the formatting of a storage device, use the Files app on iPad or a Mac or PC.

(Optical media does not commonly use one of those formats.)
