Can I downgrade from iOS 26 to iOS 18.6.2 on my iPhone 15 Pro?

I’ve downloaded the full version of iOS 26 today when I should have downloaded the option for iOS 18.7 instead 🤦🏻‍♂️

This update is horrible, I can’t stand it, and it makes my phone very hot.

Is there a way that I can downgrade from iOS 26 (not beta, the full version) to 18.6.2?

As noted, even after the update is "finished" and you can use your phone again, there's still a lot going on in the background. I know that my phone is downloading some of the Apple Intelligence components and doing some reindexing of photos. There's probably a lot more happening that I don't know about. It takes anywhere from 24-48 hours for things to settle down.

I suggest that you keep your phone connected to WiFi as much as possible and keep it plugged in when you can. This should help speed things up. Many people whose opinions I trust recommend doing a forced restart after the upgrade has been installed.

I always forget there's official documentation for the post-update battery drain. Thanks.

I bookmarked it so I can find it easily!

It will get better about when iOS 27 is released.
Why can't Apple leave well enough alone?

Some of it's marketing and some of it is in response to customer complaints and feedback.

When iOS 27 comes out, there will be hordes of people demanding to know why Apple changed something in iOS 26 that they thought was wonderful. It happens every year.
