I have this information from an article years ago that Apple has since deleted or has scattered about in other documents, but the information is still relevant. The things below used to be stated clearly in previous versions of this document:
- " Turn off automatic renewal and your membership will finish at the end of the current subscription period."
- "If you cancel Apple Music, you'll lose access to the Apple Music catalog, any music that you added to your Library, and the features of Apple Music when your current subscription period ends."
- "If you cancel during your trial period, you’ll lose access to the catalog and features of Apple Music immediately."
