What causes color fading and grey app icons on MacBook Pro M1?

The last couple weeks the colors on my MacBook Apple M1 Pro started fading out.

Thought I was just imagining.

It's getting really bad. The APP icons are turning grey.

Today I updated the macOS Tahoe 26.0, it didn't help.

Restarted, reset NVRAM, no luck.

for software—

try a SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test.

if the display is failing it would be considered a hardware issue

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"
