Unable to change 'Wired Accessories' setting on iPhone due to organization restrictions

I also lacked the options to “ask” for wired accessories. I tried the “lockdown on”, restart, “lockdown off”, restart steps. Nope, as soon as “lockdown off”” triggers the restart, it also goes back to options for “always” or “always when unlocked”. No other options.

Well, the Reset All didn't work, and in fact when I first set up this new iPhone 17 Pro, that setting was grayed out and it remains grayed out. If Apple is aware of this critical issue, they don't seem in a hurry to fix it, because here we are a month later and nothing has changed. My phone is personal, and not administered by an IT department. Considering the malicious hacking going on with chargeports, I can't afford to plug my phone into any public outlet, so am carrying a high capacity backup battery on my trips.

Oh, do tell, because Apple Support told me it's a known bug and couldn't help me. What exactly did you do to fix it? Resetting the phone doesn't fix this issue for me, nor does using lockdown (it returns to always allow as soon as lockdown it turned off). Please share with the group.

I have an iPhone 15 and running iOS 26.0.1 and this method did not work for me. I have tried twice. I am retired and do not have any business or corporation associated with my phone or any other device. This is clearly a bug that hopefully Apple will fix soon. And the update just released did not fix this!

I tried that. While in Lockdown Mode, I was able to select "Ask for new Accessories". But when turning Lockdown Mode Off, after the restart it reverted to "Always Allow" with all other choices greyed out.

I talked yesterday to Apple Spain. They recognize it as a known issue.

Will a reset network settings work as well as a reset all settings for a fix?

I tried that, and it did change to "Ask for New Input Accessories" but only until I turned lockdown mode off and restarted... now it's set back to "Always Allow" with no option to change it. >.<

Using iOS 26, in privacy settings my wired accessories is grayed out with “allow when unlocked.” The only other choice is always allow.

also, my phone has always been in my name, only unconnected to any organization.

I tried that but it did not work for me. It remains permanently set to "Always Allow" with a note underneath that says: "This setting is managed by your organisation and cannot be changed".

I don't belong to any organisation nor am I on any iPhone contract.

Please could someone advise me as to why is this happening and how can it be rectified?

I used the lockdown mode which did the same thing but when I turned lockdown mode off I was not able to change the settings to always ask. It went right back into the grayed out with the same message. This is maddening!

I used lockdown mode to change wired accessories from always allow to always ask. But once I turned off lockdown mode and restarted my phone wired accessories was back on always allow and the option to change was greyed out! How can I change this?

I have an issue like this where the wired accessories menu only shows two options: always allow and automatically allow when unlocked. I was hoping to select ‘always ask’. I have an iPhone 13 with iOS 26.0.1. I don’t want to reset my settings I was hoping it would be fixed in an update.

I can also now confirm that after a period of time (not sure how long) the setting for Wired Accessories goes back to Always Allow and is greyed out again.

Can probably redo it again like before, but I'm not going to bother until this is fixed. Not really an issue for me.

This is happening to my Air as well. I've tried the Lockdown mode suggestion but it didn't work for me either e.g. it always went back to Always Allow.

I really didn't want to reset my settings to set up new passwords, new cards etc so patiently waited for iOS 26.1 and just updated and installed it this morning hoping this issue would be fixed. Alas, it has not!

Come on Apple! This a major security issue for the iPhone and for product that takes privacy & security seriously, this must be fixed like NOW!!
