No sound for text messages, keyboard, and emails after iOS 26.0 update

Check the position of the Mute switch, above the Volume controls on the left side.

And also check that the iPhone is not in Do Not Disturb mode - the button with a crescent moon in the Control Center.

Same problem, fixed by flipping mute switch on then off.

I had not used mute switch since IOS26 upgrade. Had only used sleep focus via schedules in health app and that focus was not active when the problem was noticed (many times). I finally searched and discovered this item.

I was able to get my Audio back by flipping the mute switch over a couple of times, problem solved on my device.

I had the exact same problem with my iPhone 13. Read this post, flipped the mute switch on, then back off and problem fixed.

Have you checked the Mute switch, as mentioned previously in this thread?

Have you tried a forced restart:

1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (this might take longer than 10 seconds).

The operative word here is QUICKLY for the first two buttons, then a long hold for the SIDE button; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem. 

I had no problem after iOS 26 but last night I updated to iOS 26.0.1 and I couldn’t get no noise on my iPhone no matter what I did, my Apple Watch started working but no noise on my phone then I found this page and I did what you said and clicked the mute switch up and down a few times and now it’s working perfectly, cheers.

As I said, I already tried restarting - no change. I did a Forced Restart (see above how-to by Lawrence Finch), and I now hear when I send texts. Hopefully I will hear incoming as well. TBD.

Having the same issue. Mute is off, and nothing turned on in Focus.

Also not hearing texts come in when I’m using another app. Not sure if I’ll hear texts at all - I just upgraded last night to iOS 26.0.1. I tried restarting, but no change.

I have exactly the same issue after updating to iOS26, checked all settings, restarted phone etc, still no sounds, iPhone 15 Plus.

After playing with the settings for two days, this worked for me. Thanks!

have the same phone, just updated today, same problem...going to check more tomorrow with tech
