Timers in foreground on Apple Watch. Accidental canceling

I use Timers, a LOT, and I'm having a problem with the implementation on Apple Watch. Some time in the past, the behavior changed such that with every flip of my wrist, or possibly just idling in the background, a running timer will pop to the foreground. While that would be great it I wasn't moving, it unfortunately allows the timer to be stopped or cancelled if something accidentally brushes agains the watch face. Similar issues for the stopwatch if I left it running for some reason. It can get accidentally paused.

I have tried adjusting the setting in SmartStack, even turning it off altogether, to no avail.

I can see the timer running in the main watch face complication, so I really don't need it in the foreground unless I want to take some action. I wouldn't mind if the timer popped up when time ran out, but I don't want to shut it off by accident if I'm timing something important. Surely there must be a Setting I am missing, but I can't find it.

Does anybody know how to keep timers in the background until they are really needed?

OK, problem solved. Settings for apps are scattered all over the place. In this case, I had accidentally turned on General: Return to Clock: Apps: Timers: Return to App.

Leaving this up in hopes it helps someone else.
