How does one get rid of those ENORMOUS squares of Recently Saved at the top Bookmarks menu? Do we have to live with that now? This whole new MacOS 26 Tahoe feels like a triumph of form over function. What's with the rounded edges on everything?

It appears to me there are only tiles for things that are saved to my Reading List. I deleted them by clicking the left arrow that is to the left of the Bookmarks heading, went to my Reading List, and deleted everything. No more tiles show. When I add a bookmark no new tiles appear, at least if I file it away in a folder.

What I did was to move the recently saved bookmarks (in my case about 6) to a folder on my desktop then deleted them from the sidebar. That got rid of those large squares. However, if I save another bookmark in the future then another square will be created once again.
Now I see what your two are referring to. Clicking the > next to "Recently Saved" will hide them.
Apple support told me to select the offending item(s), right click and choose Delete from the drop down menu and afterwards Quit Safari and relaunch. Also told me to report issue to Apple.com/feedback and await an update to sort out the issue.
You can always use a different browser. There are many alternatives.
After checking with Apple support we cannot at this time delete it or the new recent section. Its someone's idea of a good idea which is not working at least for me.

That is different for me. When I open Safari again, it is coming up with the Favorites already open. I have not seen the annoying squares for a long time. I suspect the sort order "Folder on Top" is making a difference.
Took me a minute. I never use Safari so I had to play with it to figure out what was being talked about. Clicking the carrot only shrinks the icon temporarily.

That shows them. It doesn't hide them. It's an iOS-style navigation interface.
Personally, I never use the Safari sidebar. The "recently added" blocks at the top don't bother me. All the other blocks down at the bottom that flicker definitely bothers me. Not going to open that sidebar again. That's a useless display.

Rarely. If I do, I used the "Edit bookmarks" feature. That takes over the whole page.
But I never ever use that Safari sidebar. Total waste of a toolbar button. I can't even remove it with Customize Toolbar.
Yes, these are the Recently Saved image icons - How do I get rid of them? They are completely unnecessary and clutter my sidebar. I can delete them temporarily but they keep popping up. It's obviously a design flaw. I hope Apple corrects this problem soon.

Now when you save a website to Favorites after Tahoe 26.0 update, it saves as a BIG thumbnail and also adds to my Favorites ( Two Places). If I do Control, Right Click and deletes it deletes the Big Squires, it deletes both. I just want to delete Big Squires. Can someone figure out "How to delete Big Squires only) ?
