Notifications don’t work when iPhone is off in iOS 26

I know this happens every year and there’s basically never a fix you just have to wait for an update but I might as well try: I haven’t been getting any notifications when my iPhone is off. No sound, haptic, and it doesn’t go to my Apple Watch like usual. Don’t try to tell me to turn notifications on that’s not the problem

Your original post is confusing. You will never get notifications on your phone if it is turn off. It doesn't do anything if it's off.

Moving on. Have you restarted both devices since you updated? If you haven't, do that now. Then, make sure you don't have any Focuses turned on.

For Standby, make sure you have notifications enabled. Settings>Standby>Show Notifications

Another oddity. While I was trying to figure out the problem, I found that all text conversations in messages had notifications turned off for the message. (This was not the case before the update.) I turned notifications back on for each individual conversation. Now if that person or group texts me, the notifications are still marked as on, but I don't get notified.

If someone new (not in the messages list) tests me, their text shows up as notifications turned off. Again, in my settings, notifications are all turned on.

Does that trigger any ideas?

Among numerous other frustrating issues that I’m looking forward to being resolved (Siri stuck screaming in my AirPods is #1), I have this exact problem as well.

Notifications are spotty and the Apple Messages app is the worst offender. I’ve had to turn my iPad and Apple Watch off of silent to hear their notifications while my phone does absolutely nothing. My iPhones lock screen will show no new notifications, even if I wait minutes, but if I unlock and scroll down to my notifications, there they are, I have received them.

I’m not willing to start fresh once again, but I have performed the normal troubleshooting, including disabling and re-enabling a whole host of things along with multiple restarts and network checks.

Hopefully enough other people have this (sorry) that it’s resolved in a quickly upcoming update!

I have the same problem as everyone else here since upgrading my iPhone 13 to iOS 26. Sometimes I hear a notification but more often than not, I don’t. I have never had this issue before upgrading to iOS 26. It is extremely frustrating to have to constantly visually check my phone to see whether I have anything new that needs my attention rather than just simply being able to listen for a notification. Unbelievable and quite unacceptable that this issue has not yet been addressed and resolved Apple.

Looks like it's a software glitch, turn the silence notifications switch on then back off again a few times.
Then turn it off completely to allow notifications and your notifications will come back. Simple fix but quite annoying.

yes it may have fixed your unique problem, but Zedairder is wearing an Watch. Not getting notifications when locked is to be expected.
