IOS 26 on iMac - my shortcuts no longer on menu bar

I've had a drop down list on the Menu Bar for a long time that would show my most used Shortcuts (from the Apple Shortcuts app). Today I updated to IOS 26 Tahoe (love it so far), but there are always quirks, right? Well, everything else is still on the Menu Bar... Adobe Creative Cloud, Music Recognition, Speakers, etc.. The only thing missing is the drop down list for the shortcuts.

In all honesty, I don't remember how I got it up there way back then, but I think it was when the Shortcuts app was open, I went to Window (top menu) and there is a selection to check for Menu Bar. Well, the selection is still there, it IS checked, it cannot be unchecked (I was going to toggle it to see if that would help). Restarted the app... restarted the iMac... still nothing up there.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I found a way to get the Shortcuts list back in the Menu Bar.

Open Control Center and click on Edit Controls. Select "Shortcuts", then drag and drop "Show Menu Bar Collection" up into your menu bar. It does not matter whether or not you have "Menu Bar" checked in the Shortcuts settings as shown in leroydouglas' reply.

Hope this helps. I stumbled on this in a very good article about new macOS Tahoe features in MacRumors published 9/24

Hi leroydouglas,

Yes, that's what I mentioned in the middle of my second paragraph. It is checked. Yesterday there was not a way to uncheck it when I clicked the green check mark - it just stayed in the checked position. See how the top item under "Library" which is All Shortcuts is slightly greyed out on the screenshot below? That's how the Menu Bar selection was yesterday. Today, it does toggle (maybe this morning's restart fixed that quirk?) but it still does not show up on my menu bar.

So I unchecked it again... did a restart. Checked it back on again... didn't see it up in the menu bar so again I did a restart. No luck.

Hey Alancito,

As simple as that was, that was the fix. I'm surprised I didn't think to check there as often as I use Control Center, but I don't think that I have not opened it since the Tahoe upgrade.

Thank you! I use the shortcuts menu bar a half dozen times every day, so it was getting annoying not having it there.

By the way... the Tahoe update is nice!

Alancito, I am in the habit of downloading the "new features guides" for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Watch each time a new IOS is released, and then I skim through them to see if there is anything I want to dig into deeper (then I go to Google for that)... but I like the layout of this shortcuts guide even better for specific items, so thank you for sending the link.

Now this brings up a question... is there some type of index/menu/whatever for example if I wanted to see similar things like "What's new in Notes" or anything else? I can see where this would come in very handy! For example, since the upgrade, not only do I have to turn my 7:00am alarm off on my Watch, I also have to open my iPhone to turn it off on there as well, which is annoying since I used to be able to do it on either one, and both would turn off. But I'm drifting... It would simply be a nice starting point for things like this to see what is new, and analyze myself if that is causing something new on my devices, instead of searching Google (for contradictory advice in every direction - lol) or asking the community here... which I prefer doing only once I exhaust looking for myself.

I enabled my Shortcuts menu bar item but I note that the first item on the drop-down list is always truncated. I have removed and replaced some of these items, tried re-ordering them, but always the first item is truncated. See the screen shot for an example. Resizing the window removes the scroll bar but still the top item is partially hidden.

To be proactive you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here:  Product Feedback - Apple

As a work around put some dummy shortcut in first position that you do use if it is an issue.
