iOS 26 update causing app crashes and freezes on iPhone

Yes my phone was reset and erased and everything was reinstalled….twice. I had plenty of memory and was up to date with updates. It just took my phone to most apps working but could not do mail, make and receive phone calls and constantly froze. Two great folks at Apple store helped me get the phone back to working order. Three days later i was back in business…..except my iwatch thought it was pairing with the “old” phone and dis not update or pair corrrectly. Apple support helped me erase the watch and start again (which, btw, is what ended up being the solution to fix the phone). The last thing I noticed today was I couldn’t add gmail to my macmail. Gmail worked in the app but not in adding it to my mail accounts. It was also recognizing the “old” phone. So in the authentication process it kept sending me to the old utube which would’t recognize my new uodate. The solution was to eliminate it twice after being added to Macmail and it let me authenticate in the gmail app. One of the frustrating ramifications to this mess was downloading all the apps to put then back into the 23 folders I had originally set up. You are really back to ground zero when you reset and erase your phone. Thank goodness i had a good backup before the install of IOS26. I hope this helps!

Since I updated on night of 09/22, my messages, phone, email, and calendar have been messed up. Since the update, when I try to open those apps there is just a black screen. Then throughout the day they work but they stay frozen/black 95% of the time. Never had any issue before this ridiculous update. I have been to Apple twice I have contacted them on the phone at least five times and they say it is the update issue and they have no resolution at this time. So I am paying for a phone that I cannot use. Yes, it still has Internet capabilities, but that’s it. If I did not have cellular on my watch, I would not be able to receive phone calls or texts at all. I have been an Apple consumer since 2010 and this is making me reconsider staying with Apple any longer.

I have the same issue on my iPhone SE 2020 and iPad air, they crash when trying to block a call, email or message. Also I my iPhone and iPad freezes when I try certain functions in some of my Apple Apps, like Apple Cash in my wallet on my iPhone. I was trying to send money and the send to page just freezes, where I have to reset the phone to get out of it. Obliviously from reading the complains on this web site, IOS 26 is not ready for prime time and has caused issues for a number of users. Apple needs to address this issue now.

I have the same problems with my upgrade on a proMax 13. I spent 5 hours on the phone with apple yesterday, went to the store and spent another 4 and am going back tonight for a 2nd reset and reinstall. The problem has grown larger in one day according to this apple community. I hope Apple has a solution quickly.

From yesterday I had to shut down my 15pro God only knows how many times 1) froze up just after downloading iOS 26

2 email it’s a nightmare you start writing, scrolling checking, blocking is a good one you need to wait 4 or 5 seconds for the stop to appear, I tried to block a junk boot’s email it toot my over 10 minutes to delete it,

its a nightmare good and proper

usually apple give an update pretty fast but no this time

My iPhone 13 crashed. I tried EVERYTHING. I took it in to my carrier and they tried to help but it was gone. I had plenty of memory. I got an iPhone 16 and it’s doing the same thing. It will work for a little while and then the text app freezes, phone app freezes, try to go in through settings>messages and that freezes. It’s ridiculous.

I am facing the same issue. I wish I could go back to the previous version. My phone even heats up when changing the wallpaper, sometimes when switching from app, specially photo app. Looks like apple wants us to upgrade the phone.

I have the same issue with messages. I couldn't open my recently deleted or spam. I restarted my phone 5 times, reset it 3 times, and it still wouldn't open. Now, I can't even open my messages app. I thought I wouldn't have many issues with a 16 pro max.

Same on 16 plus. Really only noticing it on non native apps, they just won’t load, or seem to load but are frozen. I have no blocked contacts and over 100gb of free space so those aren’t my issue. Shutting down helps for maybe a minute before it all just locks up again. Very frustrating.

I’m having the same freezing issue after downloading the new iOS 26. Can’t open the phone app, mail app or the text app. Unable to make phone calls or receive mail or text messages. I’ve forced restated multiple times over the last few days but this only helps for a short period of time but the issue still persist. I have an IPhone 15 Plus with lots of space available so that’s not an issue. I updated my iPad an I’m not having any issues with it. Any help with the issue would be greatly appreciated.
