AirDrop is not working on devices running Tahoe and iOS 26

Has anyone tried sharing files using AirDrop between devices running macOS Tahoe and iOS 26? Neither my phone nor my laptop can detect each other via AirDrop. I only noticed the issue just now after updating to the latest OS versions yesterday.

Many people are reporting the same issue so don't feel alone. I see (37) me too and counting on your post alone.

if your OS and iOS are current, for Continuity issue I would try signing out of your AppleID/Account and back in again to sort the issue.

Sign out of your Apple ID/Account /iCloud on the Mac and back in again and compare your results

I'm glad for some people that it's working but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem. Not every Chevy Bolt battery blew up. For some people, their cars ran just fine. That didn't mean that other people didn't have a problem or that it was their fault and there was nothing to resolve by Chevy... y'know?

Out of curiosity, how much 3rd party software can owners install on their Chevy Bolts? The situations aren’t all that analogous. But good luck sorting it out. Safe Mode would be a start. Or live with it and plan on hoping 26.1 fixes it. I heard hope is a great plan, but maybe I heard wrong.

As a long time Apple user, upgrading to Tahoe was my worst mistake. The ultra high secure setting have effect lock me out of backup files, and made every day chores like moving files, a chore. I am in the mist of restoring by hand 5 months of accounting files on 4 accounts by hand on Quickbooks. And yes, I had to upgrade QB and Office.

File share is yet another function that no longer works. Tahoe to iphone. At work they are telling me that is work you get for having an Apple and this point they have a point.

Tahoe upgrade looks good but things just stopped working like Quickbook, MS Office, Airdrop, etc. With a lot of effort and upgrades ( and re-entrying months of data) most are now working except Airdrop, Dymo printers. The suggestions don't work. I upgraded to 26.2 and still the same problems. Window 11 on this Mac works fine.

Very disappointed in this upgrade.

the problem is specifically can't recognised airdrop from different apple accounts devices with macOS Tahoe 26.2 . it only recognised my own devices who's logged into the same apple account, other than that.....it's not working at all with my contacts, eventho my apple family, it can't recognised anything. It's still working on IOS 26.2 and IpadOS 26.2 tho...

I cannot replicate that issue. M4 Pro MacBook Pro running 26.2, sharing a Safari webpage via AirDrop and I see my other Mac, my iPhone and my iPad and also my wife's Mac as options.

Let's go down a rabbit hole, why don't we? One Bolt owner saying he didn't have a problem with his car didn't mean that there wasn't a problem with other cars blowing up...that was the point, not whether a Bolt has how many pieces of software. Sorry, I thought that was obvious. My apologies for being obtuse.

Booting in safe mode doesn't solve anything. It MAY tell you that in a stripped down mode that you'll never use, it now works. Great. And we'll use that how? Strip all 3rd party programs off my computer? Is that a solution really? Go one by one to the hundred-plus pieces of software and apps one has on one's computer and test them all out? That's ridiculous.

The point is that Apple users are reporting this problem. Hopefully Apple takes note, or, someone comes up with an actual usable, practical solution in this forum...

I've also had airdrop stopped working issue since the tahoe upgrade. It was either email the files or use the iphone mirroring app to copy the req'd files to notes. Very frustrating to say the least. I was able to resolve the issue of sending files from my iphone SE 3rd gen to my MBA 15" M3 using aridrop from my iphone to the laptop with out any issues. I then tried to grab files from the iphone and all was good again. Hang on and let me think about what I just said?? Perhaps apple has done something on their end as for the most part I'm initiating the AirDrop process from the iphone. Since the Tahoe 26.2 recent update the iphone would error out and nothing was tranfered. Sorry for the confusion but airdrop appears to be functional once again at my end. I should see if I can connect the MBA to my old iMac 27" 2013 aa that had stopped working as well.
