SO it's hard to explain what the problem is but it's like the computer is stuck on right click, windows get stuck and keep moving around if i curser over them, and any text i run over is highlighted..sometimes it stops on its own but most of the time i have to reboot to fix it...has anyone ever encountered a problem like this and if so how do i fix it cause it's driving me CRAZY!!

I'm having this issue since upgrading to 10.6.4

Here's what I've found:

These were the 3 entries posted to console.

Though Firefox did not crash or freeze, I force closed the application. Once force closed, The problem still existed.

After reopening Firefox, the issue immediately went away, without a system reboot. Anytime this issue happens, it's happened when Firefox is open and any time I force close Firefox and reopen, the problem immediately goes away.

Can anyone reproduce my same scenario?

Right on the spot, I was really worried my beloved 17" MacBook Pro was damaged, since I was experiencing all sorts of trackpad and click issues. I removed the battery and worked on my MacBook without it and voila!!! It worked. Last Monday we experienced record breaking temperatures in L.A. and that is when the battery became swollen on the left side.

Same problem. Pretty sure it's software related due to previously quoted reasons. I think my problems started about the same time as original poster (late August 2010) so might be to do with software update.

Also, I note that it even affects the use of my USB wired mouse. Not sure what that means. Hope Apple sorts this out.

Jeez ... I thought it was just me and I was going nuts!!

I seem to have the problem occurring most frequently with Adobe Acrobat CS4 (full version), Firefox, iTunes and iChat all open simultaneously. But the Firefox info was interesting ... if I start shutting down programs, it eventually clears up without me having to do a soft or hard restart.

I'm going to switch over to Safari and/or Chrome for a bit and see what happens.

Same problem here. I've been so embarrassed to tell all my PC friends. I thought I did something, but now know it's not just me. Thanks everyone for your posts.

Apple, please fix this in an update soon. It would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure the blog sites will pick up on this soon. Please beat them to it.

Thanks

I have this problem too, it's great to know it isn't only me!

I think I'll give Apple care a ring and see what happens. I'm apprehensive though, because I also have a brand new Mac Pro at work, which has an intermittent problem with recognising the headphones - it's been back for repairs twice and both times has come back "fixed" but actually still with the fault. Furthermore, each time they said it will be 2 days but kept it for 10, which is a massive pain. So I'm going to call first, because if that's the service I got with my work computer, I don't expect to get much better service with my own! Why do Apple produce such fantastic products and then treat their customers like dirt? It really spoils an otherwise fantastic experience :/

ALRIGHT, So I took my computer in to the apple store because out of anger over this issue i hit my track pad so hard i cracked it (they replaced it because the guy working had had the same problem and felt sorry for me..thanks apple) but it is a software issue according the the employee. no time frame as to when it will be fixed. but as a side note i have not had this problem once since they replaced the trackpad (I Hope I didn't just jinx myself.)

Finally I have stumbled upon others with this problem. I too noticed it around the August 2010 timeframe. Eventually I chalked it up to a trackpad (hardware) problem and had that replaced. All seemed well briefly, but the problem has since returned. More recently I decided it was related to Firefox, so I am trying to keep from using that, though when developing for the Web I need to make certain that my code suits FF.

Here's hoping someone resolves this problem.

I'm on my FIFTH trackpad!

I'm using the late 2009 13.3" 2.54 GHz/4GB Ram model running a completely updated Snow Leopard, and I am FED UP. At first I had to replace my trackpad because of "mushy click" problems twice, and now THIS.

On a side note, I plugged in a Logitech USB wireless mouse, and when this Right Click fiasco starts, my cursor acts fine using the mouse (and switching back to the trackpad causes it to continue).

Only two things fix it: rebooting, or madly single/double/triple/quadruple clicking in a frenzy for a couple minutes while cursing.

This is ridiculous, and I am SICK of sending my trackpad to AppleCare (not to mention the last team to replace my trackpad didn't even install it LEVEL). I really want a fix! Any suggestions?

Alright guys!

Back with more info...When this happens a relatively easy and quick fix to get your trackpad back on track is...go to the desktop, right click with the trackpad....while continuing to hold down right click, simply use your other finger to tap the trackpads left click until the right click desktop options goes away. your right click stuck will be fixed until it happens again.

I'm having the same problem right now and it since august the i'm experiencing the problem. It is really annoying but the workaround of right click the desktop and tap with the ohter fingher really works for now.

Apple please fix this.
