Touch ID not working for login since Sonoma 14.8

Already tried restart, Touch id on/off etc. Nothing helped. After my macbook pro 2019 is idle for more than 10 minutes, i always have to login with password because touch id isn't even showing up to login. Please fix!

Thanks for your reply - I hadn't seen it till now as I was innocently believing I would get a message telling me there was an update in a conversation I had contributed to. But no! Came on here today to report that the issue is still happening after I updated the software to Sonoma 14.8.2 yesterday (which itself took a few days to do, as the download kept getting stuck). Same issue. I had followed the instruction in the link you gave before. But my laptop touch pad just doesn't seem to recognise I'm touching it when the fingerprint screen is there - stays resolutely grey and unchanging, with the only option being to 'cancel'. I'm stumped!

There are times when the notifications are really broken & never get received, then there are other times the notifications can be delayed by many hours. Apple had a huge issue during the this thread.

Double check your account settings for this forum to make sure the notifications are configured correctly as well. It has been a long time since I joined here that I don't recall what the default settings are & they may have changed anyway over the years.

I've seen a couple of threads on this forum about the TouchID issues, but have yet to see any posts mentioning the issue has been fixed. I think your post is the first one to acknowledge testing with the 14.8.2 update (or similar corresponding update for Sequoia).
