Refurbished iPhone 11 Pro overheating and battery draining after iOS 26 update

I just got hold of my first iPhone, it is a refurbished 11pro. As soon as I powered it on and set everything in order I decided to update it to iOS 26 before going to normal usage. The phone became so hot and the battery drained within 3 or 4 hours😳. I then recharged it from 20% to 80% and it ran out within 3 hours to 14%. Every other thing is fine. Is there anyway to try and fix it?

That is exactly what Apple says you should expect after every major software update and to a lesser extent, even point updates. You are going to need to give it at least 3 - 4 days to finish indexing files and optimizing your photo library for object detection algorithms. Leave the phone plugged in when available or not using the phone.

The one concern about a refurbished phone is if it was done by Apple or a third party. Check your Battery Health at Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Maximum Capacity. Third party companies can "boost" the battery readings, while Apple always uses a genuine battery replacement with every refurbished device. Since Apple no longer sells refurbished iPhone 11's, you may have an issue that is not related to iOS 26 at all and simply a problem with your battery.
