Issues with Apple Music after upgrading my Mac to macOS Tahoe

There are a shocking number of “technology” companies who are having problems releasing software upgrades without breaking things, lately. My theory is that the money-is-all mentality which is so prevalent in big corporations nowadays is causing them to “save costs” by getting rid of the very people their business relies on to function.

I'm having issues with the Queue. I'll load a number of full albums and then at some point I'll realize that a different album is playing. Upon opening up the queue I'll see that my queued up albums were replaced with random albums that I had already played. Sometimes odd tracks are inserted in an album list of tracks. This happens every three or so days. I find that if I clear everything, history, queue, etc. then it seems to work OK. But it'll happen again in time. I only ever play full albums.

I turned off glass for Music because it wastes space and I hate the controls at the bottom of the screen rather than using the empty space at the top (who thought that was a good idea?!). But I still have the same frustrating issue of all folders opening at start up and when playlists are moved or other random actions. I have a lot of folders (a lot!!) so it is infuriating!

awful. at least you figured out how to open the renamed "Continue Playing" panel. how can you do it with a left scroll? (right scroll closes it, yes).

more annoyances:

• no tool tips when you need them. no idea what that "AutoMix" symbol was until i googled around for it.

• I can't tell whether a button is pressed or not on this LG. and they change if Music is in focus or not.

To add to all of these very valid points everyone has listed, I have my own problem:

Is it just me, or is the first .25s or so of a track SKIPPED outright when play starts? Before I updated to Tahoe, THIS LITERALLY NEVER HAPPENED ONCE. Now, starting beats of tracks are missed, so bits of music or spoken words at the start are cut off; this is VERY bothersome.

Has anyone else experienced this? I do not do cross-fades or anything like that, before you ask.

If you are in Apple Music's artist view, and you have an artist with several albums, you used to be able to double-click a track from an album, and it would play that track and then proceed down the tracklist, album by album, matching what you see in the GUI. Now, once that album is complete, a totally random album from a completely different artist will start playing after the album I selected finishes playing. It's infuriating.

I keep having my entire queue wiped out and replaced with totally different albums. This happens roughly every three days or so. Today, Music simply crashed. Every day I find other bugs. Like, if I'm in a playlist browsing then navigate to another location then return to the playlist, the playlist is totally empty. But I found that if I change the view to "show all music" (I always have the view set to downloaded only) then my playlist is once again visible. But any time I navigate again to another location and then back, my playlist is empty all over again. They have me playing whack-a-mole.

Im so tired of the sound check issues, some songs are being BLASTED whilst some are quiet as a mouse, so when im working out and my computer is playing the music, I have to constantly interrupt my workout in a hurry to lower or raise the volume, hate this.

Since I haven't seen these items elsewhere:

• Playing Next no longer updates with on-the-fly changes to the Smart Playlist it's supposed to be playing from. Did you remove a song with a rule or ratings change? Playing Next begs to differ.
• Sound Check is broken.
• AutoPlay (which I never use) sometimes shows up at the bottom of Playing Next, even when it is safely dormant.

Sorry if any of these are repeats.

Finally, what in the actual heck is this bit of UI madness? This is what users see in Playing Next, even with Reduce Transparency activated under Accessibility.

I *love* that the side-to-side scrollbar shows up (not just in Music), even when the content is narrower than the window, unless you switch to hidden scrollbars (which I'd prefer not to, but Tahoe forced my hand).

Hang on, I found another bug.

Hitting Command-L to take you to the playing song only appears to work. As you probably know, it doesn't work at all from inside the currently playing playlist — but it's broken from elsewhere, too.

Try this. Start a song, exit the playlist, then hit Command-L to take you back to the song. Then hit Command-I to pull up the song's tag.

NOTHING HAPPENS.

The currently playing song is properly highlighted, but not actually selected. You'll still have to click on it again before you can do anything with the highlighted song.

Control on the bottom of the window and the transparency of the song list below is the most annoying thing about the upgrade to me.

Also, it broke my home sharing...

I record vinyl records to an old 2010 Mac Pro tower running Catalina. Home sharing worked great under Sequoia. On my 14 inch m3 MacBook Pro I could choose the library from the old Mac Pro and it would show up, then I could choose "Items not in my library" from the Show: pull down menu. I would then select the songs and hit the import button and the songs would copy over to my main Music library on the m3 MBP... Now Music unexpectedly quits every time I attempt to access the shared library. I went through all the usual trouble shooting. Logged out of home sharing on both, logged out of iCloud, restarted... logged back into iCloud, logged back in to home sharing... etc. Still quits every time.

Sadly, that playback issue playing tracks late with opening .25s or so cut off has NOT been fixed. Whenever you key-stroke, double-click or click the Prev or Next, that bug happens. MAYBE going between tracks naturally, it's not happening now, but since I'm changing songs to fit things per whatever I do, this is aggravating.

Still not fixed in 26.2. Worse still, my iPhone is nagging me to upgrade to iOS 26.2. This is the only device I have on which iTunes works as I expect, so no way. I am not going to risk breaking the only device where I can play my music the way I want.
