Can I buy an iPhone without financing it?

I think I found the problem. I have the upgrade program, where I get a new iPhone every year. When I order the upgrade online, it automatically finances it through Citizens Bank. There is no option to pay for it with a credit card. I called Apple, and the person I spoke to said I could order a new phone and trade in my current one, but they didn't know about the upgrade program. I think I'm just going to have to visit the Apple Store and speak to someone in person.
