iOS 26: how to mark a text from unknown sender as spam

I have the new filters enabled; screen unknown callers, filter spam, text message filter is set to on.

In the past, there was always an option to block or mark as spam, once I looked at a message. Now, when I see a text message, with a phone number, in my unknown sender list, I no longer have an option to Mark as spam or block the number. I only have the choice to delete or Mark as known.

Some things change with each iOS upgrade. If you select Delete, you'll have the option to Report it as Spam, which appears to be the same except the wording was updated. And if you select their name in the top of the conversation, there will be a Block Contact option as it's always been.

Thanks Zachyy!

I tapped “Delete” & did get the popup with the option to Delete AND report as Spam (which I did)

BTW, When I tap& hold a TXT I get 2 “delete popups one lower & one upper. Does this work the same regardless which “delete” I tap?

@ Smilin-Brian, Under what circumstances do you get the popup you posted with option to delete & block?

Also, When you report a Txt as spam, does that also block any future txts from that same number?

Thanks again to all who replied.

The top should simply delete the message and the bottom should also block the sender. It appears that known senders will show the "Delete" and "Delete and Block" option, but it doesn't show on group chats. Unknown senders will have the Delete and "Delete and Report Spam" option. One difference is that reporting spam will share the message with your carrier and Apple. And when you report a text as spam, it doesn't prevent them from sending, you would have to manually block them before reporting as spam. But I've noticed scammers typically switch numbers often.
