Following the brand new update to my iPhone 15 , the new icon layout puts a white border round my icons. I had spent ages making icons without borders that floated on my plain background . It says the new update is fully changeable but HOW do I get rid of these new bordered icons

Please follow this path,
iPhone > Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast > disable, if it is disabled, momentarily enable and then disable and restart iPhone.

It's bad for you. You are the only person you can speak for. It's unwise to assume that your preferences are somehow superior or shared by most people or represent an objective truth.
I am a "visual person." I like Liquid Glass. And that preference is relevant to exactly one person.

This is a pretty bad way to fix the issue.
This update is so awful, really regret upgrading to 26.1
everything looks terrible with the borders
it absolutely is bad, a simple reddit search will tell you it’s very unpopular among many people. Ruined the aesthetic of mine and many others’s home screens.
Reddit readers are never happy, that's the whole point of that platform .
Does not work for me on iPhone 16 Pro.
Any news on this? Every update has at least one thing that makes my life a little worse. I tried all the suggestions here, and submitted feedback. I had a lovely home screen 20 mins ago. Now this 🙁
I mean it’s very opinion based but in my opinion it is absolutely bad. I hate it so much, it’s the worst feature on my phone, I want to switch to android because of the Liquid Glass alone
I share this opinion 100%..... And that says a lot as I own about $15k of Apple products.

Are you referring to this look?
If you are, you can't change the look. This is part of the Liquid Glass look, which is hard coded into iOS 26. All you can do is turn off Reduce Transparency an Increase Contrast and if you don't like the animations in iOS 26, turn ON Reduce Motion. All settings are in Settings > Accessibility
