Apple Watch screen keeps going black after charging

I charged my new apple watch after using it for almost 24 hours. After it was fully charged and I turned it on the screen keeps going black after a minute. I can turn it back on clicking the crown but it will go black again. i have asked for "screen always on" but that isn't working;
