iPhone 17 pro CarPlay freezing and crashing

I’ve got a new iPhone 17 pro. Running iOS 26.0 23a345

im on AT&T. My car is a 2017 Chevy bolt with a built in infotainment center. Connected with a usb A to usb C cable.

The CarPlay works when first connected, I’ve typically got apple maps up and something playing music in the background like Amazon Music. Also have had it lock up on a phone call. It just randomly freezes and quits CarPlay. I’ve seen it go up to maybe 10 minutes before freezing but I’ve had it less than a minute also.

This is unacceptable.

After the problem persisting despite trying every fix offered on this forum: changing cable settings, new cable, updating phone software and vehicle firmware, I just contacted Apple support via chat/text today. After running thru their series of troubleshooting steps for ~2 hours, they transferred me to the support supervisor via phone. The supervisors were 0% helpful. They didn’t even offer any other potential solutions. They told me that I need to contact the vehicle manufacturer to solve the issue!! Ridiculous! Apple needs to acknowledge the problem and fix the issue! It’s apparent they are trying to blame the vehicle manufacturers and avoid any fix. I am going to submit a warranty claim to try and get my money back and will be going with a different phone…too bad I already traded in my old iPhone 13. This one’s junk without CarPlay!!

I am having the same issue. My CarPlay on 2018 Acadia crashes usually within 1-2 minutes of being connected to my phone. It’s crashed running maps, Apple Music, phone calls, and Teams calls. Funny enough, my husband got the same phone at the same time and has zero issues with his phone plugged into my car.

Troubleshooting I’ve tried: Turning off Bluetooth, forgetting my vehicle, reconnecting my phone to the vehicle, about every settings change posted above, new cables… still a problem.

Has there been any resolution to this? I just got a new iPhone 17 Pro, and my wired carplay isn't working either. Same issues as others are reporting - it works well for a bit, then freezes up, and I have to unplug and replug it to get it working again. First I noticed the GPS freezing (google maps), then the music will stop. Or if I'm not using GPS, the music will just freeze. I'm using a brand new Anker USB-A to USB-C cable. Ford F150 with Sync3, on the most recent firmware (they stopped updating the firmware for these years ago!).

I've been using an iPhone 14 Pro for the past 3 years with zero issues, super reliable. Really upsetting to buy a brand new phone and LOSE an essential function. Very tempted to return it as it's still within the return window...
