So, just saying that the thing is an iPhone 8 will most probably crash, because the oldest device that supports iOS 26 (As of 2026) is the iPhone 11, which is last in line for iOS 26 support. Your support for your phone dropped in September of 2023. Apple usually drops support because the phones can't handle it, and the fact that the servers for sending will get full. But, you can get a new phone on that still support iOS 26 (iPhone 12 recommended) and trade in your iPhone 8, like Servant of Cats said. Hope this helped.

The processor inside the iPhone 8 is not compatible with iOS 26. The iPhone 8 can run iOS 16.....but it cannot run iOS 17, iOS 18, or iOS 26.

You need a new phone if you want to run iOS 26. An iPhone 16 or iPhone 17 would be recommended. Here is a complete list of iPhones that will work with iOS 26:

was discontinued from the latest iOS updates a few years ago. As a matter of fact it didn't receive iOS 17 or 18, so as a result it won't receive iOS 26.

The iPhone 8 has only 2 GB of RAM. Only one of the iPhones that can run iOS 26 has as little as 3 GB of RAM, and it is the straggler. All of the others have from 4 to 8 GB of RAM. So lack of RAM would likely be one reason.

Then there is the Neural Engine. All iPhones that can run iOS 26 have at least 8 Neural Engine cores. The iPhone 8 has a rudimentary Neural Engine with only 2 cores.

There is no iOS 26 software update for the iPhone 8 - as you could have learned by reading the thread.

You don't. You need at least an iPhone 11 to run iOS 26. The 8 does not have the hardware to run it.

Time for a new phone if you want iOS 26.
