Hello, I have an iPhone 8 and apparently there is a new iOS 26 update that everyone in my contacts has been getting and I was wondering how to get it on my iPhone 8?

iPhone models newer than iPhone 8 are themselves also no longer receiving newer iOS versions.

If people in your contacts have gotten iOS 26, they have a newer model iPhone than you do. The only iPhones compatible with iOS 26 are iPhone SE 2020 and SE3, iPhone 11 or newer. Note that iPhone 8 isn't capable of running iOS 26. It wasn't capable of running iOS 17 or 18 either. So it certainly wouldn't get iOS 26.
You don't. You need at least an iPhone 11 to run iOS 26. The 8 does not have the hardware to run it.
Time for a new phone if you want iOS 26.

The iPhone 8 has only 2 GB of RAM. Only one of the iPhones that can run iOS 26 has as little as 3 GB of RAM, and it is the straggler. All of the others have from 4 to 8 GB of RAM. So lack of RAM would likely be one reason.
Then there is the Neural Engine. All iPhones that can run iOS 26 have at least 8 Neural Engine cores. The iPhone 8 has a rudimentary Neural Engine with only 2 cores.

Fundamentally, because Apple does not support iPhone 8 past iOS 16.
The A11 Bionic processor has known hardware security issues.
iOS 18 and later support only Apple silicon processors without those particular issues, too.
