iPhone 17 battery drains quickly with normal use

Rebooting first stops all apps, which takes energy, then starting loads all apps, checks status and syncs with iCloud, mail, contacts, calendar events, notes and reminders. All of these steps use energy. 3% is not surprising. But the real question is WHY are you rebooting frequently. I never reboot, except to install an update.

I agree with Mac Jim ID. People dread the time when their battery health (capacity) hits 80% and they need a new battery.

Setting a charge limit to 80% has the same effect, except 2 years earlier.

I’m just past my 14 day return window on my 17 Pro max. I can’t believe how quickly the battery drains with normal use. 100% after overnight charge, down to 50% within 5 hours. At the end of a normal work day, it’s down to 18%. I thought I would no longer have to bring portable charging with me. Sadly, not the case.

I’ve the exact same issue, battery drains quickly overnight by 10-15% I would charge 80% at night and in the morning it would be 70/65%.

I sent my phone to Apple repair center and they found nothing by keeping the phone for 2 days, after the iOS 26.1 update it’s still the same, called the support again and they found nothing and said they can’t help further, which is not a Apple reply, iPhone 17 pro max here.

Im experiencing the same issue I was about to return my iPhone.

I had iPhone 15 Plus I loved it because of its bigger screen It has 85% battery health even in this condition it was way much better than brand new iPhone 17.

what I should do now?

I’ve had my new iPhone 17 Pro for about three weeks, and I’m noticing the battery drains really quickly even with minimal use. I live about two miles from a T-Mobile tower, and I’ve already gone through the settings to turn off background activity for my apps. For example, today I started at 100% around 6 AM, checked a little social media and email, mowed the lawn, took a couple of work calls, and by now I’m already down to 60%. My brightness is set to medium, so I’m not sure if the privacy screen could be affecting it, but something doesn’t seem right.

Me tooo.. I purchased my iphone 17 on 4 days back and today i just used the camera for not even 10 mins and the battery dropped to 73% from 80%. I previously had iphone 11 with 74% battery health and it used to work so much better. I am regretting this purchase.

On my iPhone 17. After every reboot battery percentage drops by 3 %. I did this 10 times and battery drained 30%. Non sense apple says this is normal. How?? With very nominal usage I am loosing whole battery on my phone.

my iPhone 16 plus with similar or more usage giving 2.5 times battery life than iPhone 17.

I just got my new 17 pro max 4 days ago. I build houses so I leave the phone in my car most of the time. By the end of an 8 hour shift the battery goes from 80 to 60 % just sitting there. I had the 15 pro max and the battery would last three days when new. There is definitely something not working properly. Apple please fix the issue.

You should be charging your phone at night. Makes no difference what device you have or iOS version, the phone is always running while on and will use the battery. If overnight means 8 hours, that is a mere 1% per hour and would not indicate anything is wrong.

I began my day with 100% battery. I’ve used my phone for nothing other than listening to an audiobook. It is now 4 PM in my battery is less than 10%. I’ve had this phone for less than 10 days. I am sorely disappointed.

Can someone tell me if the issue I am having with my iPhone 17 Pro is normal? Me and a family member got the same model when the phone launched and my usage is bare minimum. The day I got my phone I set the charging limit to 80%. I have the optimized battery charging turned on, adaptive power on, background refresh turned off for all apps. I don’t have any of the power draining settings turned on including always on display things. Now I can’t say the same for my other family member. The most disappointing thing I found out was my cycle count in the battery was 25 as of now and my family members is 15. Like how? Besides turning on all these settings and my usage is bare minimum compared to theirs how is this possible? And also even with no usage at nights by turning off WiFi and turning on low power mode I see a significant battery drain like let’s say it goes form 51% to 39% when I check morning and this issue frustrates me. Apple did a battery test through remote and they said there seems to be no issue in hardware but this issue is bothering me. What could be the reason?

No any update from apple and team, shame on you apple and team, apple behind of Oneplus for software updates and security updates, I don’t like iPhone 17 due to battery draining very quickly, no network stability, crash every apps, no support of jio 5.5g/5GA, no support of backup calling. Apple is a looser for everything.
