iPhone 17 battery drains quickly with normal use

You need to define “longer”. If you charge overnight with Optimized Charging enabled the iPhone should not require charging before the next nightly charge unless you use it very heavily during the day. This is normal and expected.

The battery drain for a iPhone 17, which is about 100 times more powerful that an iPhone 14 with features like Apple Intelligence, which is not in an iPhone 14, will use more energy; that is simple physics. If it didn’t there would be something out of kilter with the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

Of all of the billions of smartphones that have been bought over the past 15 years there has not been even one user who was satisfied with their battery performance. Maybe an exaggeration, but not much of one. 

I just bought my IPhone 17 promax on Oct. 24. I paid the full amount of $1,305.41.

It’s only been 6 days and I am beyond disappointed. It was suggested to have the battery optimally charged at 80% & restart charging at 20%. IPhone 17 promax is supposed to last for 36 hours. Mine does not even last for 16 hours. And I am just using the phone to text, google and check my email at this time.

For the price I paid for this phone, it’s not worth it. I am planning to return it in 14 days to the Apple store at the World Trade Center, NY.

Is Apple going to fix this problem?????

I have upgraded my phone with iPhone 17 pro just 2 weeks ago and now it’s battery dissipating me everyday. I used to charge my phone from 20% to 85%. From last couple of days I’ve noticed that the battery drain dramatically without doing anything. If go to sleep with 50% battery and the next day i can see only 30% left.

I don’t know what’s happening with such a premium phone like 17 pro. And what’s the solution?

I’m seeing the same issue. It’s been a week since I received the phone and updated it. Quick internet search indicates this is a common issue with the new phone. Would someone at apple be able to assist?

My apple 17 iPhone battery is terrible. Goes from 80% - 20% in a few

hours with little use. Pictures are difficult to send via text even on WiFi. How do I address this? I bought this 2

upgraded from the 14 pro max to the 17 pro max…fully charged both last night and I’ve been doing exactly the same thing on both all day, 17 is about to run out and the 14 is still on 87%…I seriously wish I hadn’t upgraded now

I just purchased the iPhone 17 & it’s the battery life is the first thing I noticed. I am very disappointed with this phone & the battery life. I must charge it every night & Find My iPhone is the number one battery drain each morning. I have decided to just turn it off. I have researched this & tried everything, but nothing works. I am beyond frustrated. The phone is not cheap & I certainly expect better from Apple.

I'm unhappy with my purchase and within 14 days and Apple support and ATT are not assisting with getting rid of this dog of a phone. Iphone 17 pro with no battery life. I feel bamboozled. I don't want this phone now.

I’ve got an iPhone 17Pro, a present from my husband. My last phone was an iPhone 12 Pro and the only issue was the battery draining too fast, due to its age.

Now it seems to me that the brand new iPhone has the same problem. Charged all night and the battery lasts around 7 hours!

Does anyone knows how to solve it?

Same issue here, Apple won't address the issue via there support line, just say to go to At&t. At&t says apple has to deal with it even within their 14 day window, which means they charge you a $50 fee plus the $100+ for the "free upgrade" you already paid. Just want my I-phone 11 back, way better battery life.

I just purchased a 17pro, trading in my 14Pro. I'm only getting 8-10 hours out of the 17pro - hopeless!

I shouldn't have to find a charger at 2pm!

And a summary of my typical daily usage - Games 2.5 hrs, Productivity 1.2hrs, Social 1.1hr

My old 14 lasted hours longer. I've given it a week or so to settle in but it's actually getting worse.

For a device that advertises 30+ hrs - it's not even achieving 30% of the stated specification.

The 17 is supposed to get 12/13 hours of use time. I do not get that. I have also called & get no help. This is so wrong. I have had my new iPhone 17 for 2 months. It’s like there is no warranty from Apple. I am now angry. It’s total BS.

Even i am experiencing the same battery drain issue despite upgrading to the brand new iphone 17 & even with very normal use i am unable to pull off the device for the entire day. The maximum screen active time that i am getting is 5 to 6 hours. I am already in touch with apple advisors on telephone support for around a month now but still it is very disappointing that i am not getting any proper resolution for my problem. Completely fed up explaining my battery drain issue to new advisors in every couple of days.

same, just upgraded my phone to the 17 and i remember when i could go a full day/2 days without having to charge a new phone. this battery died within hours of first day of opening out of the box, with 100% charge. very disappointed tbh

The battery message I was receiving is definitely not normal (the one about the authenticity). However, you’re saying that to get the phones full battery potential you have to not have arguably 2 of the most used third party apps installed? How is that reasonable?
