iPhone 17 pro and block messages

hello everyone, I just recently got the new iPhone 17 pro and whenever I send a text message to android or non-iPhone device, I receive the block messages activated. I have look at a few YouTube videos and done the recommendations and I am still unable to text colleagues who do not have an iPhone. This there any other method of fixing this issue

Can still get texts from someone I blocked. I can still get texts from someone I blocked. I keep reading it’s because they’re sending through iMessage but that shouldn’t matter. I don’t want texts from them anymore. I don’t want contact from them anymore how do I make that happen? My phone is updated to the latest iOS.

Why do I still receive texts from non-contacts despite the setting to block them on iPhone? I turned on the setting that prohibits text messages from being received by anyone not on my contact list, however, I still get plenty of those messages. The iPhone even puts a little subtext in there that says this person is not on your contact list. My first thought is “no kidding.“ My second thought is “then why do I keep getting these messages?“ or is that button in the settings like the proverbial light switch in an old house that doesn’t seem to operate anything?
