Apple Music stops playing after one song on Apple Watch

I just upgraded to iOS 26 on both my iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra 3 and now Apple Music will only play one, or sometimes two, songs on my watch before stopping. It doesn’t matter if I select an album or a playlist. I get the same thing with Apple Music stopping on its own. I first noticed this while using the workout app and going for a run, but I am also getting this while just trying to listen to music and not working out. I found this previous discussion that mentions the same thing: Apple Watch Ultra 2 stops playing music p… - Apple Community. Anyone else having issues?

Problem solved for me ! I found the sustainable solution. I think the conflict is linked to Apple Music session open in browser version. You must disconnect from all browsers playing Apple Music web player with your account as you can’t play on more than one device.

I leaved my computer at work with Apple Music web player version open with my account connected and music paused. Then I had this problem when listening to my music using Apple Watch. Next song not playing. When I unlocked my iPhone, Music displayed the message that I can’t listen to music on more than one device with my subscription. After each song I think there is a conflict with other device connected to your Apple Music account. Disconnect from web browser playing before listening with your Apple Watch.

Tell me if it works please.

Having the same problem with my Apple Watch Ultra 1 after upgrade to OS 26. I mostly play music during workouts with the Apple workout app running with feedbacks during the training session. Playing music works fine the first time right after a restart but the problem occurs again next time I workout. I manually need press the “forward” button in the player to go to the next song. Not sure if using the training app with feedbacks running in parallel with listening to music may have something to do with it?

I’ve had the same problem for such a long time. Apple Watch had been perfect for my running until this happened. I would have to try to skip close to the end of each song.

The lengthy process of unpairing watch and phone, and deleting the music app (this one caused much panic after all of my music disappeared, and was stored on iTunes on an old laptop)

these “solutions” only worked for a short time.

A new watchOS update happened to have appeared this morning, as I’ve come looking for the solution, once more. It specifically mentions this problem.

Fingers crossed this is a fix.

Same issue with me. Every time the song gets to the end, it won't go to the next track automatically. Also, if i'm running and getting audio prompts from fitness app about my pace each km, it pauses the song and doesn't resume it after the audio prompt has finished. Quite annoying.

My watch software version is up to date. Using Apple Watch Ultra 1.

I have the same issue. Go to gym, start music playlist and after one song it stops playing songs from the playlist! Very annoying to have to "manually" advance to next song! Very annoying to have to restart Apple Watch after starting a workout! Very annoying that this long time issue isn't fixed! Quality is not what it use to be... just my observation.

This issue STILL exists even after s/w version 26.2 update! However, now if I start a playlist when I go to the fitness center, it will play 3 songs - THREE SONGS!!! before it stops. Apple software releases get worse & worse! They're tied for First Place for Worst Software Releases with Microsoft. I suppose the "talking heads" at the top of the proverbial "food chain" thinks it's better to NOT perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes to save some bucks for stake/stockholders. Horrid!

This didn’t fix it for me either, like everyone else it’s stopping every 3 songs and then defaulting back to the first one it played when tapping play on my Powerbeats Pro 2. I’ve tried every fix including removing all music and reinstalling the playlist afresh. It didn’t work, not even for a day.

I’m using the Ultra 1. Apple really needs to sort this as I’ve started seriously considering a garmin alternative.
