iOS 26 Bug: Display Zoom Blocks Call Button in Phone App

In the latest version of iOS 26 (26.0, build 23A345), when Display Zoom is set to ‘Larger Text’, the Keypad Call button in the Phone app becomes blocked by the menu bar, making it difficult to initiate calls. I experienced this problem on an iPhone 17 Pro. Here are the steps to reproduce the problem…

Settings / Display & Brightness / Display Zoom: Larger Text / Done / Use Zoomed / Done / Open ‘Phone’ app / Tap ‘Keypad’ / The zoomed keypad buttons are all shifted downward, and the green Call button is now blocked by the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. (This problem occurs in both Unified view, and Classic view.)

If anyone knows of a workaround for this, please post it here. (I have reported the problem on the Apple Feedback website.)

I had this problem too (on a new 17 Pro). I fixed it by turning ON the zoom feature in Setting:Accessibility:Zoom. Then opened the Phone app and lo and behold it had resized to fit correctly with the standard Display Zoom still set on Larger Text. Then I went back into the accessibility Settings and turned OFF the Accessiblty:Zoom feature and the Phone app remained resized correctly. I rebooted the phone and even switched back and forth between Display Zoom settings and the Phone app hasn't gone back into supersize me unusable mode. Seems to be a permanent fix even though no settings are left altered to fix it (just turned on and the back off basically). It appears to be a bug affecting a fresh install and this procedure permanently corrected it for me. No need to switch back to Display Zoom:Default (to fix the Phone app at least).

Turning on Accessibility: Zoom, "super-sizes" the images; then you can tap the screen with 3 fingers and move the sizing slider to the left to bring the images back to the non-Accessibility Zoom size. Turning Accessibility Zoom back off, then disables the Accessibility Zoom feature. But nothing changes with the bug of the Keypad Call button and Backspace button being blocked by the menu bar in the Phone app. My result was not what you reported (that the images all fit on the screen correctly, with the standard Display Zoom still set on Larger Text). Is it possible that you left out some steps in your description? Thanks again.

Yes we all agree that what they said was incorrect, the correct course of action hs been stated more than once…

Settings, Display & Brightness, Display Zoom, Default (not large text)

Yes, keypad call button is blocked by bottom overlay, as is the back delete button in Display Zoom.

Same thing on three iPhone 17 Pro phones I tested, with iOS 26.01 when in Display Zoom larger text mode.

Works fine in Standard default mode. But going back to Standard affects all phone displays.

That's not a solution, back and forth. Should move keypad up 1/2" in display when in Zoom mode to fix.

Update: Yesterday, after it corrected itself doing the above process, I wasn't able to replicate the problem so couldn't specifically verify that fixing it worked exactly as described. Today the supersize Phone App randomly returned without any changes to settings. ****. Seems my post was a little premature as I tried again to fix it as described and it didn't work this time. I still have a 15 Pro on the latest iOS version with exact same settings (that I can see) and it doesn't have (never has) any Phone app issue with Display Zoom set to Larger Text. Maybe isolated to 17 Pro??? Since it works fine on the 15 Pro and I had it mysteriously fixed on the 17 Pro for a short period, I'd conclude it's definitely an iOS bug and we possibly have to live with it until resolved in future updates - hopefully. Joys of being an early adaptor of the latest release.
