iPhone on iOS 26 is flashing bright white in Messages while in dark mode

I think there’s a UI bug when editing text in the Messages app. Turn on dark mode with IOS 26 “Liquid Glass”, and type a long text message. Then move the cursor around to make edits. The screen flashes super bright white like a strobe, especially for quick rapid finger taps. Is this a bug? It looks like Apple used the same visual effect from light mode by mistake.

Agreed. It's been like this since before the official update. I've been on light mode ever since encountering it because it's so frustrating. Oddly enough, with enough lines (like 5 or 6) it isn't an issue and actually might be pretty cool! But with one or two, it's just blindingly white and, not to sound too dramatic, kind of unbearable to use. So hopefully this gets enough traction for Apple to see. Send feedback to them, for sure.

Have the same issue. It's blinding and very distracting. It just needs to

be toned down or an option to disable this.
