Pixelated Apple CarPlay screen on iPhone 17 Pro Max with Mercedes BClass W246

Here we go again….Upgraded to iPhone 17Pro Max and apple carplay seems to have an issue. This seems to be a recurring issue when the new iPhone and new IOS comes out. When i connect directly with the cable in my Mercedes BClass W246 the screen blurs and pixelates like the picture below. I have tried removing the device from the car and car play and yet the issue persists. This makes apple car play unusable with without constantly exiting the app and going back in, to which the screen refreshes and works for less that a minute. The apple side bar continues to be blurred. This happened when the apple 16 came out and 13. My previous iPhone 16pro did the same until and update from apple. Same as the iphone 13pro previously. Any assistance would be greatly received…

Following advice from others I purchased this new - Ottocast TV Mate- from eBay UK, for £37. Plug the ottocast unit into the CarPlay USB A port in the car and connect once using WiFi. IPhone connects to CarPlay seamlessly and is wireless. Amazing and very easy. All functions work. HMDI

port not needed. This is only

required if you want to mirror an app from

your iPhone but does not provide CarPlay functionality. Thanks all.

Same exact issue on a 2018 GLC300 with Iphone 17 Pro. Was previously using iPhone 13 Pro with IOS 26.0.1 and there was no issue. I am outside my return window so cannot even return this phone and go to a iPhone 16 like so many others have. Nothing has changed in the Mercedes - the only change is going from a 13 Pro to a 17 Pro so it looks like this is an issue with how the 17 Pro is sending video to the the car. A fix needs to come soon otherwise Carplay becomes useless.

Same problem, 2018 Mercedes-Benz C300.

Apple, shame on you. This is clearly an iOS 26 issue.

I had a long chat about it with Gemini, which thinks that iOS 26 is sending H.264 video at a higher bitrate than the Mercedes hardware supports (which is why a new car firmware doesn't help). The car might also be at fault by claiming it supports something that it doesn't, but still, Apple should add a compatibility setting.

I just bought the Ottocast U2 Air Pro, and it didn't fix it - same issue. Boo.

I've not read all twelve pages of this, but if you and everyone else here with this hasn't informed Apple of this then they are unlikely ever to do anything about it and unless a lot of people report it then it won't be high up the priority list.

You're not talking to Apple here, we're just a bunch of users.

I’m experiencing the same issue with my 2018 GLC43. CarPlay worked perfectly with my iPhone 12; however, after “upgrading” to the iPhone 17, the display became pixelated.

I believe it’s an iPhone 17 hardware / chip problem as I have tested several other iPhone models (ex. 12, 14, and 15) all running the same iOS version, and none of them have this issue.
