i just tried it but it didn’t work. The phone is still really laggy and I can’t get into any apps. I’ve tried going to settings and doing the software update but it keeps jumping me out of settings
- Was it performed correctly where you saw the Apple logo after holding the side button and the phone restarted on its own, without any other action needed on your part?
- What happened when you said it did not work?
- Previously you said it could not be restarted, so did it restart?
I cannot rule out a hardware problem, such as the Digitizer built into the screen. When the Digitizer fails, your phone will register "ghost" touches so tapping an app may not work or you may see the screen respond in a way where you are not initiating the tap. For the digitizer, it would require a screen replacement.

Before scheduling service, you may want to try a Factory Reset using a computer. You would need a backup to restore any data, since this will wipe the iPhone and then you would restore the data from the backup.

I assume the screen is not cracked at all. If that is the case then troubleshooting is not going to do any good and you will need to get the screen replaced.
