CarPlay reduces vehicle music volume because of text message
How do you stop the vehicle audio / music from temporarily lowering when you receive an incoming text message while connected via CarPlay?

That's normal and there is no setting which changes how it works when you get a message. You could turn off notifications for messages in CarPlay if you don't want the temporary drop in sound when a message comes in.
