I have read elsewhere on these ASC Forums regarding your above request
If only I could find that posting
To recreate that suggestion I have initiated a AI/LMM to assist
It looks much like the original posting / suggest
Use a configuration/profile (for advanced users or managed devices)
If your Mac is managed by an organisation (or you don’t mind using configuration profiles), you can deploy a .mobileconfig profile to defer or block major OS upgrades. For example:
The policy “Delay Major macOS Software Upgrades” can hide the upgrade option for up to 90 days.
Block the installer application (e.g., Install macOSTahoe.app) from running.
These are typically used in enterprise/IT settings; deploying such profiles manually requires some comfort with device management.
If you disable Apple AI, it's supposed to remove the cache data after a short amount of time. From my experience, it never does.
I also have instructions that require booting into Recovery Mode and using a number of Terminal commands to remove the AI data. The ones I have used to work, but no longer do. Though I think a slight modification would work. I'm also just about to leave Sequoia behind (waiting for the .1 update for Tahoe to fix things there), so it doesn't matter much if I toast the Sequoia volume. That, and I can always reinstall the OS.
But, the instructions wouldn't fly past the kind of info we can post on these forums. It would be removed rather hastily.

There used to be a simple Terminal (Unix) command to tell the OS to stop showing updates you don't care about. But, it no longer works.
You are very correct, as usual 👍
There is no tongue in check there, either
Happy belated Halloween 👻
I've been reading and trying the stuff here and none of it is working to help me get rid of this Tahoe installer. Argh! My MacBook Air is too old, it won't boot the Tahoe installer. It still lets me boot the MacOS Sequoia that is running fine. I just want to reclaim the space taken by the Tahoe installer .
Doesn't this show that the Tahoe installer has already been downloaded onto my 8GB Macbook? It's too small to run Tahoe well, which is why I never want to install it. However, I do want to keep automatic updates on for Sequoia. I'm also running out of disk storage space, so I too want the installer gone.
Please tell me how to accomplish all of this.
Many thanks!
No, that command (softwareupdate --list-full-installers) does not list downloaded installers. It lists available installers on Apple's Software Update sever.
Those installers are not downloaded to your computer. They are available for download from the Update server.
That's why it's not recommended to use terminal commands you don't understand. You assume things that are not correct.
You go to the Software Update option when it tells you an update is available and see if you want to install it.
It will still notify you of updates, but won't download them if the option is turned off.
I can't find the Installer though. It's not in any of the places everyone is saying it is.
If you can't find it, what accounts for the 7 GB you want to reclaim?

Thanks! Just discovered my "AI" has taken up 11.83 GB.. Doh! No noticeable benefits so turned it off as advised..
Let us know if you ever figure out how to remove that please ;)
I'll let one of the previous contributors explain things to you.

It shows Sequoia 15.7.1 is available to download and install
Actually it shows 15.7.1 is already installed.
That 7 GB is not downloaded yet. There is nothing to reclaim.
