MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1 bluetooth issue with 3rd party devices

I just updated my 2020 intel iMac to Tahoe 26.0.1 and after start up and reaching the login page, my bluetooth keyboard and mouse will not connect. I have a generic keyboard and my mouse is a Logitech MX Ergo. I was able to switch my keyboard and mouse to the 2.4 Ghz using their respective USB dongles and I was able to login into my iMac. After login, then the bluetooth connection to the keyboard and mouse works. Rebooted several times and the issue showed up after every reboot. The magic mouse and keyboard from Apple which are also bluetooth don't have this problem, it seems that only affect 3rd party devices. Has anyone seen this issue?

Try this:

System Settings > Privacy & Security > File Vault > Turn Off

I just tried this and seams to be working back (restarted and turned on/off several times my mac)

File Vault protection may be blocking pre-login hardware access to 3rd party devices

Thank you. I've had nothing but trouble with peripherals since Tahoe upgrade, but I want to make clear these issues extended to Apple's own bluetooth keyboard and trackpad consistently until I turned File Vault off. Calm is (mostly) restored...

I don’t have any problems with Apple keyboard and Trackpad with FileVault enabled. Maybe there is more at play. There would be thousands of posts about not being able to log in if it affected Apple devices.

I'm experiencing similar issues but a little different.

After updating my M2 Pro (with the higher tier M2 pro with more cores) Macbook Pro 14", bluetooth functionality stopped working altogether, NOTHING shows up in the bluetooth bar. Whenever I reboot the computer, my accessories work BEFORE logging in. After I log in, I can't see any devices show up in my bluetooth. My headphones don't work, my keyboard doesn't show up, my mouse doesn't show up, nothing.

I tried rebooting the computer over and over again, nothing. I had to use my macbook and the touchpad to interact with the computer. Since I work from home and I rely on this computer as my main source of income, this is understandably frustrating.

After a while, my keyboard and mouse started working, I don't know when / why, but i'm afraid to reboot my computer now, that I might lose them again. My headphones still can't connect for the life of me.

I'm not used to this quality of SW updates by apple, this is outright horrible. Whilst I also have a windows computer and windows updates are annoying, it NEVER broke essential functionality like this.

Anybody knows any workaround?

No. This is not a 3rd party responsibility. THE FACT that the bluetooth doesn't work and doesn't discover ANY devices is a fault in MacOS for me not the 3rd party manufacturer, whose devices work everywhere and did work prior to the 26.0.1. update.

We recognize what follows may not resonate for one reason or another

Does Apple Own the this party device ?

No

Does Apple provide a possible third party dongle for this device ?

No

Does Apple design and built the third party software ( if required ) to make the device work to the expectations of the user ?

No

Does Apple Test each and every third party device that requires a bluetooth connection ?

No

There has been sufficient advice offered for the User ( you ) to make an informed and educated choice what remedial actions are  required for this computer.

The suggestions have been put forth on a volunteer basis, in good faith and in the best interests of the computer which do not always align with the users exceptions .
