iPhone 17 Battery Drain with iOS 26.0.1

since updating my iPhone 17 to iOS 26.0.1 I can see massive battery drop. It was working fine with iOS 26 but the update it’s dropping faster than before. My average is 6-7 hours sot, but with this I am getting 5 to nearly 6 hours. Any suggestions since it’s a new device purchased on 22nd and only 9 cycles have been completed! Should I reset the device to see improvements?

Another explanation would be the setup and update tasks running at the same time. This includes updating all of your apps, installing new features such as Apple Intelligence, and index and sort all of your data. Those can cause a temporary increase in battery drain. Make sure to keep it on Wi-Fi whenever you can and on a charger which will help these tasks complete. Your battery should return to normal soon.

I’m having the same issue on my iPhone 17 Pro Max (iOS 26.0.1).

My device is only a few days old, battery health 100 %, and it came straight from Apple Service with no hardware problems found. Even with light use (mainly Messenger, browsing, short calls), the battery drops from 80 % in the morning to about 25 % by evening.

I already tried setting it up as new, turning off background app refresh, and using both Wi-Fi and 5 G—but nothing helps.

It really seems to be a software-related drain introduced with iOS 26.0.1, and I hope Apple fixes it in iOS 26.0.2 soon.

Same I just bought a brand new IPhone Air 10 days ago and the battery drain in just 3-4 hours with normal use (WhatsApp, calls, media). What have you done different in the past days? Something useful instead of the things you’ve mentioned? (I already did the same of setting it up us new, etc etc), totally useless!! Please Apple give us a solution!!

You are going to need to give it at least 3-5 days to perform the indexing as Zachy described. Charge your phone all night, every night using the Optimized Charge option. Using a Charge Limit will always start your day with a partially depleted battery. You should be experiencing all day battery life under normal conditions and the details you described are showing a 55% drop in a day, which is in line with that expectation.

  • Start each day at a 100% charge
  • Use your phone normally throughout the day
  • Charge it all night, every night

You should not have to charge your phone throughout the day unless you are a heavy user or playing a processor intensive game for a long period of time.
