Apple Music doesn't shuffle songs after updating to macOS Tahoe

Since updating to MacOS 26 Tahoe, my large library of songs, both purchased and those added from my own CD collection, will no longer shuffle; rather my Mac plays the songs in the listed order, and it ALWAYS starts the playlist from the beginning.

This is a new issue since upgrading to Tahoe, and the two most recent updates did NOT fix it.

I use a Mac Studio with the most recent OS running; Controls > Shuffle > On is selected.

Thank you for any help resolving this; as a self-employed person, I rely on having my music available when I work from home.

I had this exact same problem after installing Tahoe on my iMac, but finally figured out how to fix it.

I signed out of Apple Music - and it immediately crashed. Then I couldn't load the app without it crashing everytime. I was able to load it in Safe Mode (hold Opt + Cmd while loading) and log back into my account.

After I did this, shuffle has worked as expected.
